Widget spacing

#1

Hi

I am using widgets to create some tables between some text, but the spaces between the widgets is too large - and there is a horizontal line between them. I assume that this is a ‘padding’ issue?

After searching this forum I tried using this code to reduce the padding:

.panel.widget,
.panel-grid-cell section {
padding-top: 10px;
padding-bottom: 10px;
}

This did work - but only on the front page, so I tried this:

.so-panel.widget,
.panel-grid-cell section {
padding-top: 10px !important;
padding-bottom: 10px !important;
}

This worked, but it also applied to the front page, but I didn’t want it to!

I have spent hours going around in circles - Is there any way I can reduce the spacing on pages (other than the front page) and remove the line please?

Many thanks for the excellent forum!

Hey,

Sure, you can do it like this:

.so-panel.widget,
.panel-grid-cell section {
   padding-top: 10px !important;
   padding-bottom: 10px !important;
}
.home .so-panel.widget,
.home .panel-grid-cell section {
   padding-top: 80px !important;
   padding-bottom: 80px !important;
}
.panel-grid {
    border-bottom: 0;
}
.home .panel-grid {
    border-bottom: 1px solid #ebebeb;
}

Good morning Vlad

Thank you so much for the incredibly fast and helpful response - it worked!

Do you ever sleep!?!?

It’s actually 11 AM here :slight_smile:

Doh!

I have been working on this since 4:30 am and did not realise how late it was!

Where in the world are you based?

Can I ask another really stupid question please?

Is there an easy way to format the text in a text widget or do I need to compose it in HTML?

I’m in Bucharest.

You can either use HTML or you can use the Black Studio TinyMCE Widget plugin.

Bucharest - have heard some good things about the ‘cafe culture’ there and I would love to see the Palace of Parliament.

Thanks for the suggestion re TinyMCE widget - lifesaver again!. Unless I have installed it incorrectly it does not give any formatting options in the text widget only in the visual editor widget - is there any real difference between these two widgets?

Well yeah, the point would be to use the visual one, not the default text widget.

Add on to this question.

If i want to reduce the widget spacing as above on my posts pages, what would the CSS be?
