Types Not Appearing

Hi, I’ve been looking around online but I still can’t find the solution for my Sydney theme. I’m trying to rename Project to something else but the Type is not showing up on my Dashboard.

Hello there,

Please make sure you have installed and activated the Sydney Toolbox plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/sydney-toolbox/.

To rename the project to something else, please follow the solution on this thread: https://athemes.com/forums/topic/rename-projects-to-products/

Hi Kharis,

Thanks for your prompt reply.

It’s installed and activated. About that solution,

add_filter(‘sydney_projects_rewrite_slug’, ‘sydney_child_projects_slug’);
function sydney_child_projects_slug(){
return ‘products’;

If I did not use any child theme, do I need to add in the child word? Or just

add_filter(‘syndey_projects_rewrite_slug’, ‘sydney_projects_slug’);
function sydney_child_projects_slug(){
return ‘partner’;

Something like that?

Hello there,

Basically you can use any function name you want; make sure it must be unique to avoid duplication. Otherwise it will produce an error.

If you don’t want to use a child theme, we’d recommend you use the functionality plugin like Code Snippets: https://wordpress.org/plugins/code-snippets/. So you can safely update the theme in the future as all files in the main theme will be overwritten.

Just for information, we have a premade child theme for Sydney already which can be downloaded from here, in case you would change your plan.

Hey Kharis,

Thanks again for the reply.

If I use the child theme now, will it overwrite all the previous settings that I’ve done?

Assume that I don’t use the child theme, I just need to install the plugin Code Snippets, and just add in the lines below

add_filter(‘syndey_projects_rewrite_slug’, ‘sydney_projects_slug’);
function sydney_projects_slug(){
return ‘partner’;

Is this correct?

> If I use the child theme now, will it overwrite all the previous settings that I’ve done?

They will remain.

> Assume that I don’t use the child theme, I just need to install the plugin Code Snippets, and just add in the lines below

The complete code is:

add_filter('syndey_projects_rewrite_slug', 'sydney_projects_slug');
function sydney_projects_slug(){
  return 'partner';
}

Kharis,

Thank you so much for your help.

I will try it out and update here again.

Thank you.

No worries.

I’ll wait to hear back from you regarding your stats.

Kharis

Just installed the Code Snippets, input the code above, saved and activated.

The project did not change to partner. :confused:

Try to flush your site’s permalink structure by doing this:

From dashboard, navigate to Settings > Permalinks > just the save button.

Hi Kharis,

Just did it.

Settings > Permalink > Save Changes

Nothing change so far.

Hello there,

Could you confirm if your snippet is active?

Regards,
Kharis

Yes, it is!

Activated the plugin and activated the snippet.

I found a typo in my code. Really sorry. :frowning:

Please replace it with:

add_filter('sydney_projects_rewrite_slug', 'sydney_projects_slug');
function sydney_projects_slug(){
  return 'partner';
}

Kharis

But your code worked! It’s working now. Thank you so so much Kharis!!

You’re always welcome here.
