Title for Blog Post Page

hello

I am trying to make my site uniform, and have a title on the blog page the same as the other pages

i followed this link and tried what it said there but could not get it to work as stated.

i added this to the home.php file in my main theme (im not sure how to copy that across to my child theme). It makes the title appear but it doesn’t look the same as the rest. I thought it would take its settings from the widget-class but maybe i dont fully understand how that all works

<h3 class="widget-title" style="color: rgb(68, 63, 63);">Blog</h3>
		<?php if ( have_posts() ) : ?>

the site is irreverenthistory.com. Would you be able to help me with this?
Thanks for your time
Nick

Hello Nick,

Here are the CSS rules that style widget titles in content area:

.panel-grid-cell .widget-title {
    text-align: center;
    margin-bottom: 50px;
    position: relative;
    font-weight: 600;
    line-height: normal;
    text-transform: uppercase;
    padding-bottom: 10px;
}

.panel-grid-cell .widget-title::after {
    content: "";
    position: absolute;
    left: 50%;
    bottom: 0;
    width: 50px;
    height: 1px;
    margin-left: -25px;
    background-color: #d65050;
}

Blog page doesn’t meet .panel-grid-cell part of the selector above, that’s why it doesn’t work.

Please feel free to ask any other questions that you might have.

Kind Regards, Roman.

Hello Nick,

I’ve looked at your website, it looks nice!
May I ask you how you put your social media in the footer?

Thank you,
Lara

Hello Roman

Thanks for your response. Does that mean that it isn’t possible? or just too difficult to worry about? I think ive probably spent too much time on it already so if you tell me its not worth it ill leave it alone :smiley:

Lara

I just go to Dashboard - appearance - customise - widgets - footer1 - then add the social media widget (i use SiteOrigin Social Media Buttons). Hope that helps

Regards Nick

Thank you Nick!

Hello Nick,

Please provide a link to your blog page where you added the title.

Kind Regards, Roman.

Hey Roman

http://www.irreverenthistory.com/blog/

That’s the link. I just want it to look like the title from the other pages, but my experience with CSS is limited to googling.

Thanks for your time
Nick

Hello Nick, thank you for the link. Please try to use the following CSS code.

You can add CSS code in DashboardAppearanceCustomizeAdditional CSS (WordPress 4.7 and up). Also you can add CSS code directly to style.css file of your child theme.

body.blog #primary .widget-title {
    text-align: center;
    margin-bottom: 50px;
    position: relative;
    font-weight: 600;
    line-height: normal;
    text-transform: uppercase;
    padding-bottom: 10px;
}

body.blog #primary .widget-title::after {
    content: "";
    position: absolute;
    left: 50%;
    bottom: 0;
    width: 50px;
    height: 1px;
    margin-left: -25px;
    background-color: #d65050;
}

Kind Regards, Roman.

hey Roman

thanks again for your help. i added that to my style.css but it doesn’t have the blue underline. I could get it to add n underline but it seems to cover the whole word. would you be able to tell me how to do that?

Thanks
Nick

Hello Nick,

It looks like you have content: &quot;&quot;; in your code.

Please correct the error and see if it helps.

Kind Regards, Roman.

that’s it now Roman. thanks for your help. I just copied and pasted but didn’t check what had copied. My apologies. The only issue remaining was that the colour of the underline was red not blue, but i went crazy and fixed that myself. Thanks again for your help, much appreciated.

Great! You are welcome Nick :slight_smile:

Kind Regards, Roman.
