Testimonials black boxes

My site is kateclarkwords.com and I’m using Sydney.

This is my testimonials page http://www.kateclarkwords.com/happy-clients/.

How do I get the black boxes off the text? There doesn’t seem to be a place for it in the edit tool. I don’t mind boxes, but would like to make them less obtrusive.

Are they built into the Sydney Testimonials widget?

Thank you.

Im not really sure. You can change the opacity perhaps. Try this!

Important!!USE a custom css-editor or a child theme. Important!!!

add this:

.hentry blockquote {
opacity: 0.5;

the number(0.5) is your opacity. You can change it to your liking.

Hello KCW,

the problem with the code that copen provided, your text will get a lower opacity too. So I guess you won’t use it.

The better solution would be giving just the background a opacity.

.hentry blockquote {
  background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.5) !important;

You can use the opacity of 0.5 or just use another color using background-color: #fff !important; or background-color: none !important;.

where du i have to put this code?

You should download ans install a Plugin like Simple css plugin and copy the css code into it.

Thanx! well - now the background is ok - can you also tell me how to chance the color of the text? white on white is not so good :wink:

sorry for asking a lot…

You’re welcome!
To change the color just add color: #000 !important; to your code of .hentry blockquote.

thank you
this is the code right now:

.hentry blockquote {
background-color: #fff color: #353535 !important;

but the “color: #353535 !important;”
changes the box-colour again. not the text-color.

i guess i’m an idiot aaaarggghh :wink:

Don’t call yourself an idiot. Everyones beginning is not easy.

In css, you have to close everything with an ;.
So you have to write

background-color: #fff !important;
color: #353535 !important;

Best regards,

Ps: if you want to learn something about the basics of html and css, this is the right site: www.w3schools.com

.hentry blockquote {
background-color: #fff !important;
color: #353535 !important;}

made it!!!

uff. trial and error. :wink:

Hithere - I’ve done mine too - I’ve managed to get rid of the blocks completely - not entirely sure how I did it, but thank you for your help. When I have the energy I might investigate getting the blocks back in a different colour. Thank you.
