Sydney Pro Update Error

Hi,

We bought Sydney Pro (V1.50) in february, so I installed it from WP-Admin using “Add Theme” - “Upload zip file”.
It works perfectly but we have problem when we try to update the theme. After executing update the theme appears as the new installation so it needs activation and after that step we lose all the changes & settings, so I had to restore the WP using Updraft plugin.

Using FTP I noticed that there is sydney-pro-ii subdirectory inside the sydney-pro-ii theme directory as you can see on this picture
( https://ibb.co/jAE2kk )

Is that normal? And if not, how can I fix it?

Thanks.

Best Regards

Hello,

I don’t think that it’s normal. Please try to properly reinstall the theme manually. You can learn how to do it here:

Please feel free to ask any other questions that you might have.

Thanks for your answer.

The problem with the reinstalling the theme is that (I presume) all the settings & changes will be lost, as it happens with the update. I need to learn where in the database (and/or configuration files) is the path to the theme directory so I can change it (after manual install) to the correct one without losing the actual settings. Or, what I have to do is to achieve something like migrating all the settings from the old to the new-installed theme, before activating it.

Best Regards.

Hello,

Theme settings are in database, and I think that the easiest way to save them is to backup the whole database. Also you can try to use Customizer Export/Import plugin. Anyway, you shouldn’t lose settings after theme reinstallation.
