Sydney Pro site slow

Dear friends, I’m just installing and tweaking this theme for a couple of days. I noticed that the site is quite slow, and especially the home page (not to mention this animation thing while the slider is loading is broken). What’s causing the problem? It’s unreally slow for the decent indexation…

Thank you very much for your answer! The problem is, I’m not a webmaster, I’m a writer (http://www.skorobogatov.com/), I’m just helping with the project and don’t understand the majority of the date on gtmetrix.

Could you please help me to understand what’s on my side, what’s on the side of my provider (pair.com) and what’s on the side of the theme? F.e., css and java are the theme’s issues, as I didn’t touch those. Who enables gzip, my provider?

I see that the slide image is heavy, it’s on my side. I didn’t figure out the optimal size and resolution thereof. Could you please advise something on that?

Looks like your issue requires close inspection, speed optimization is a serious task, this goes beyond our support policy.

As an option, you can contact Codeable for this kind of service, or find a freelancer on Upwork.

However, you can ask your hosting provider to enable gzip compression, it can significantly decrease page load time. Also you can find optimized images within GTmetrix report, just replace them on the site.

My take is something went wrong with the install of the Theme. In the meantime, I’ve installed the English version of the site, and it loads way faster: http://www.rmv.be/ENG/ , – at least that’s what I see from Belgium.

Besides, if you go to the home page (http://www.rmv.be/), you can see that the java script is corrupted.

The Dutch and the English sites are two separate installations running on two different DBs.

I presume I have to reinstall at least the Theme on the Dutch site, but I’m not sure how to proceed with it without loosing any data / setting etc.

Could you please advice me on that topic?

PS – I’ve reinstalled both the WP and the Theme, but the Dutch side keeps lugging.
