SYDNEY: Google fonts not updated

Hello,

I am using Sydney. It is a great theme.

A few days ago I added two Google fonts (Spectral and Spectral SC) in the customise section of www.LadywithMS.com, but they are not updating throughout the site.

Body:

Spectral:400,800
font-family: ‘Spectral’, serif;

Header:

Spectral:400,800
font-family: ‘Spectral’, serif;

Am I supposed to do anything else to use these fonts throughout the site?

Cheers,

Bad Producer

Hi,

Please add this code to header.php in section to use Spectral and Spectral SC:

<link href="https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Spectral:400,700" rel="stylesheet">
<link href="https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Spectral+SC:400,700" rel="stylesheet">

Please let me know how it works then.

Kind Regards,
Csaba

Hello,

I’m not sure where to add this? I thought the Sydney theme was compatible with Google Fonts.

Also, the right hand side of your text is cut off, so I can’t see the end of each line.

Hi,

You must add the code in header.php, in <head> section of your website, the code ( text ) you have to add must be selected, so then it will select the full text ).

So you want me to edit a file, not just update something in the ‘Customise’ section?

I thought the CCS section in the Sydney theme was to avoid changing any of the files?

Hello again,

I would appreciate help for this.

Can you confirm where I insert the code you provided?

I was under the impression I could use any Google Fonts on the Sydney theme without changing any code.

Also, can you confirm how I unlock the editing feature on my site. I assume this requires a plugin. Which plugin do you recommend?

Hi,

This is not CSS, it’s HTML, so you can’t add to any CSS field, yes you can use any Google Fonts, but the Google Fonts has to be integrated like this, it’s not a hard task, just add this code:

<link href="https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Spectral:400,700" rel="stylesheet">
<link href="https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Spectral+SC:400,700" rel="stylesheet">

to your theme’s header.php file in <head> section. You can also edit header.php in wp-admin -> Appearance -> Editor.

Csaba

Hello,

As you can see from the screenshot, I cannot access the editor file with those directions.

Do I need to unlock the editing function? If so, how do I do that?

Please help.

Hi,

The Editor can be removed by a plugin, so removing all of your third-party plugins may fix that, but if not, then please access your site’s files on your computer and replace the default file with the modified file via FTP ( FileZilla for eg. ), if you can’t handle that, then I suggest to hire a developer to make the modifications for you.

Kind Regards,
Csaba
