Sydney demo content import errors - Failed to import media

Hi,

Thank you for providing us this beautiful theme.

Following the Quick start guide from your site. (https://athemes.com/documentation/sydney/#demo)

I have installed and activated the Sydney theme along with Sydney Toolbox and the Page Builder plugin without any error occurs.

However, when I tried to download and import the demo content XML file, I am getting the following errors:

Could anyone suggest how can I fix these errors?
Thanks in advance.

Hello there,

Thank you for getting in touch here.

Failed to import media issue is usually caused by incorrect permissions of wp-content folder, so it isn’t writable. Please access your wp-content folder from cPanel of FTP, then change its permissions to 755. Please see the WordPress codex.

Regards,
Kharis

Dear Kharis

I have a similar problem: the import works fine, except for all the media files:

[ERROR] Failed to import “ipad-606766_1280” (Media)
[ERROR] Failed to import “stock-624712_640” (Media)
[ERROR] Failed to import “iphone” (Media)
[ERROR] Failed to import “1” (Media)
[ERROR] Failed to import “2” (Media)

The permission for the folder WP-Content is on 755

All Plug-Ins are deactivated, except for One Click Demo Import, Page Builder, Sydney Toolbox, WordPress Importer, WP SMTP, WP Super Cache.

I couldn’t find a post with a similar problem. Thank you very much for your help!

Some lines of error message will appear like so if WooCommerce plugin is inactive in your system. You can ignore that message and go with the imported content – nothing will break your site.

Kharis

Thank you for your response. The error messages appear even when I have WooCommerce plugin installed and active in my system. But I don’t worry for that. It’s just that I don’t have images on my website, except for the header.

Yahoo! I figured it out what the problem was.
If someone has the same problem and his host is awardspace.com:
Host Tools > Host Settings > Enable Outgoing Http Connections

You guys need to FIX your theme. It’s not good enough to say there will be some error messages. You’re not looking at it from the right point of view. You should program it in such a way that there are no error messages. It would save you a lot of support time and save people a lot of confusion. It’s just sloppy programming.

Thank you for pointing that out. I’ll forward it to our developer and see if there’s something we can do to make importing process neater.

Regards,
Kharis

Hi Luke,

Not that I’m trying to come up with excuses or anything, but there literally isn’t any programming involved. We don’t handle the import process in any way, we just provide an export file. Then you import using the default WordPress importer. The vast majority of times it works OK, though sometimes it can fail on some hosts, like it is mentioned in the reply right before yours.
