Single Post Featured Image not sizing properly

In Sydney-pro in functions.php there is a Post-thumbnail size setting (‘large-thumb’, 830, 400, true ) but the single blog post is not resizing image height to this size. For example, in this blog post, the actual image is 835x575px. And displayed image size is 805x575, whereas it should be less than 400px.

I am using a child theme, and both my style.css and functions file enqueue to sydney-pro-ii.

Hello there,

Thank you for reaching out to us here.

This following line which exists in the content-single.php template generates the post’s featured image.

<?php the_post_thumbnail('large-thumb'); ?>

The large-thumb size in the functions.php file says:

add_image_size('large-thumb', 830);

It means that any image width which is larger than 830px will be down-sized to the specified size by width, and the height follows proportionally.

This situation only works if the theme is active while you set the featured image. Otherwise, you should regenerate the image using this plugin.

I hope this clarifies things a bit.

Thanks Kharis!

No problem. Just go easy on it. :slight_smile:
