Search menu at the top

Hi There,

I tried to follow this help: Search in the Top menü

But there are too many options and advices, I got lost, It is hard to follow the procedure. Even that I tried and seems that nothing works for me. Probably I do some mistake somewhere.

I would like to have an expandable search box at the top of my site next to: Chci na degustaci!

Similar as it is on this page: https://birddoglogic.com/

My website is : https://rumme.cz

I know it may be a long and hard way to resolve this problem. On the other hand, the search box is something the site is really missing.

Thank you in advance.

Kind regards,
Radek

Hello Radek,

Yeah, it’s not that easy to add it manually. But you can try to use the Ivory Search plugin:

Here is its relevant documentation page:

Hi Roman,

thank you very much for elegant solution.

Could you help me please with aligning the search iconi to others topics in primary menu? If you will be able to post CSS to make it slightly bigger I would be very happy.

Once more thank you. I love Sydney and your support.

Best regards,
Radek

Hello Radek, try to use the following CSS code.

You can add CSS code in Customize → Additional CSS section.

#mainnav .astm-search-menu {
    line-height: 3;
}

#mainnav .astm-search-menu .search-icon {
    width: 25px;
    height: 38px;
    padding-top: 13px;
}

.mainnav .astm-search-menu .search-submit {
    padding: 2px 15px 0;
    line-height: 36px;
}

.mainnav .astm-search-menu .search-submit:hover {
    background-color: rgb(236, 141, 53);
    color: rgb(240, 240, 240);
}

#mainnav .astm-search-menu .search-form {
    max-height: 50px;
}

Kind Regards, Roman.

Awesome, that worked very well.

Thank you so much Roman.

You are welcome Radek!

By the way, it would be nice if you leave your feedback for Sydney theme on WordPress.org (if you haven’t done it already, of course), here is a quick link :slight_smile:
