Rocky sliding with jumping links within the homepage

Hello,

I want my menu to link to sections in my homepage, I already found the answer on how to do this by using the # tag and the ID pg-0-0. It works, only my page reloads so it doesn’t slide smoothly and it goes down to far so you don’t see the title. Is there any way to solve this problem?

Thanks in advance.

This is the link to the website:
http://www.clubinstall.nl/

Click on services in the menu to see the problem.

Kind regards,
Amber

Hello Amber,

  1. Please try to use #pg-4-2 as a link to avoid reloading.

  2. Also please try to use the following CSS code to add offset.

You can add CSS code to your site with Simple Custom CSS plugin (just copy CSS code and paste it in Dashboard → Appearance → Custom CSS after installing and activating the plugin). Also you can add CSS code directly to style.css file of your child theme.

#pg-4-2 {
    padding-top: 100px;
    margin-top: -100px;
}

Kind Regards, Roman.

Hello Roman,

Thanks for your fast answer. I’m only not quite sure if i get what you mean by try to use it as a link? I have filled in this for the link: http://clubinstall.nl/#pg-4-2 in the custom link section for the URL.

I hope you understand what I mean, i’m from the Netherlands and my wordpress is in Dutch ;).

Kind regards,

Amber

Hello Amber,

I meant, please try to use #pg-4-2 instead of http://clubinstall.nl/#pg-4-2.

Please feel free to ask any other questions that you might have.

Kind Regards, Roman.

Hello Roman,

That works perfect! Thanks a lot!

Great support for a very nice theme.

Kind regards,

Amber

You are welcome Amber!

By the way, it would be nice if you leave your feedback for Sydney theme on WordPress.org, here is a quick link

Kind Regards, Roman.

Hello Roman,

I have just one other question. The link to the homepage in my menu is still reloading. I wanted to fix this the way i have done the other links, but I couldn’t find the pg code for the home area?

I will definitely leave some feedback for Sydney on the wordpress.org website!

Thanks in advance,

Amber

Hello Amber,

I kindly suggest you to leave Home menu item as it is to let it work on all pages of your website.

Kind Regards, Roman.

P. S.
Your other menu items currently don’t work on other pages.

If you want, I can provide you with CSS code to hide them on other pages.

Also, you can create additional menu items for About us, News, Services, Projects, and Contact, then I will try to help you with custom CSS to show #pg-4-2 versions of menu items on your home page, and http://clubinstall.nl/#pg-4-2 versions on other pages.

Kind Regards, Roman.

Hello Roman,

Thanks again for your answer. I haven’t had checked the other pages, but now I see that the links are not working. I think i would like to try your last option, with the two different links. If you could help me with that, that would certainly help me out a lot!

Thanks!

Kind regards,

Amber

Hello Amber,

Just to clarify, if you use http://clubinstall.nl/#pg-4-2 link type, it reloads on front page? If no, does it scroll smoothly?

Kind Regards, Roman.

Hello Roman,

When I use the http://clubinstall.nl/#pg-4-2 link type it reloads. Only using the #pg-4-2 had fixed that problem. Hope this info is helpful for you.

Kind regards,
Amber

Hello Amber,

Can you please try to install Surbma - Smooth Scroll plugin and use http://clubinstall.nl/#pg-4-2 link type?

Kind Regards, Roman.

Hello Roman,

I’ve tried it with the plugin but it is still reloading.

Kind regards,

Amber

Okay Amber,

Then please remove the plugin, create additional menu items as I suggested earlier, and let me know.

Kind Regards, Roman.

Hello Roman,

I’m not sure if I understand what you mean with an additional menu item?

And there is a little problem with the pages, when you click on the see all our news button the picture and text show a lot lower than what I would like it to be. Is there any way to take it up a little bit?

Kind regards,

Amber

Hello Amber,

  1. Currently you have Home, About us, News, Services, Projects, Contact. But you should have Home, About us, About us, News, News, Services, Services, Projects, Projects, Contact, Contact. Each duplicate menu item should have different link type, http://example.com/#id and just #id.

  2. Looks like you have set 800px of top padding and 100px of bottom padding in settings.

Can you please try to revert top padding to default value? Default value of top padding is 83px, you can change it in your Dashboard → Appearance → Customize → General.

Kind Regards, Roman.

Hello Roman,

I have tried your suggestion and made the double menu item with the different links. Is it correct that it shows double on the menu of my homepage?

Resetting the default value had fixed the problem, I have no idea why i have set it to 800px in the first place ;).

Thanks again!

Kind Regards,
Amber

Hello Amber,

Yes, it is correct that it shows double on the menu of your homepage.

Kind Regards, Roman.

Hello Roman,

Thanks for your fast answer. Could you help me with any custom css to show the right menu on the other pages than my homepage? Like you have suggested in an earlier reply?

If this isn’t possible, I would like to go for the option you mentioned before where we hide the menu on the other pages.

Thanks again for the help and I’m sorry for taking so much of your time.

Kind regards,
Amber
