Remove the 'edit' on my pages

Hello there,

After months of giving up I changed my ideas and gave it a go again:
I have a front/homepage with added pages, no posts.
Now there appears an ‘edit’ on all my pages.
How to remove this.
Thank you for your answer
Leticia

Dear Leticia,

That “Edit” link only be visible for logged in user which has capability to edit pages/posts. If it still annoys you, you can remove it by applying the following CSS code through the Simple Custom CSS plugin or child theme’s style.css.

.edit-link{
  display: none;
}

I hope this reply helps.

Kharis

Hello Kharis,

Thanks for helping
Do I just copy and paste it in Simple Custom CSS below my other stuff?
That’s all?

in
simple-custom-css/simple-custom-css.php (active) ??
below the last
}

?? Thanks for your help :slight_smile:

Once the Simple Custom CSS plugin installed, navigate to Appearance > Custom CSS > insert the code in the provided code editor box.

Hello Kharis,

I did as you said and pasted it in my Simple Custom CSS Box below what was already in there
and have now the below code:

/* Enter Your Custom CSS Here */
.overlay {
background: transparent;
}
.edit-link{
display: none;
}

but it does not work; the ‘edit’ is still visible
I am using Sydney Child Theme is this why it does not work?
you also suggested:
"or child theme’s style.css."
How do I get there?

thank you for your time :slight_smile:

Hello there,

Could you please confirm if the group of CSS code is error free? You can use this tool to examine it.

> How do I get there?

You can edit it from Appearance > Editor > select child theme > edit style.css

Regards,
Kharis

Hello Kharis,

The ‘Edit’ still appears below the page [from which the white is removednow]
when I use Simple Custom CSS but not when I use it in Child’s styles.php
And yes the code is error free in both.
Anything wrong with Simple Custom CSS?
Thanks for your answers !!

Kind regards
Leticia

Dear Leticia,

Please share the link to your site, so I can inspect your custom CSS code.

Hello Kharis,

As I could live with using the style.css I did not reply,
but as I find that nothing is working through Simple Custom CSS
In second thought I might have been too impatient with Simple Custom CSS and now I have some in both…

hereby my site: www.xxxacupunctuur.nl

Below the code I have in Simple Custom CSS:
/* Enter Your Custom CSS Here */
.overlay {
background: transparent;
}
.edit-link{
display: none;
}
.page .page-wrap .content-wrapper{
background: transparent;
}

.page .entry-header{
display: none;
}

body.custom-background {
background-size: cover;
}

And here the code in my Child’s style.css:
/*
Theme Name: Sydney Child
Theme URI: https://athemes.com/theme/sydney
Author: aThemes
Author URI: https://athemes.com
Template: sydney
Version: 1.0
License: GNU General Public License v2 or later
License URI: http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-2.0.html
Text Domain: sydney
*/
.page .page-wrap .content-wrapper{
background: transparent;
}

.page .entry-header{
display: none;
}
.edit-link{
display: none;
}
body:not(.home) #secondary{
display: none;
}

@media only screen and (min-width:992px){

#primary.col-md-9{
width: 100%;
}

}
body.custom-background {
background-size: cover;
}

Just leave it like that?
Thank you for your reply :slight_smile:

Kind regards
Leticia

Hello there,

The CSS code you inserted into the Simple Custom CSS seems to be correct. Basically, the “Edit” link is only visible for logged in user who has a right to edit the current post/page. I think, you don’t have to worry about it?

Hello,

At the bottom of my website there is a piece of text saying, ‘Enter the text or HTML code here’. I want to remove this as it looks terrible. I have tried to edit the CSS, but I cannot seem to remove it. Please can you help? I am using Sydney Classic theme.

My site address is www.englishtraininglounge.com

Thanks
