Remove search function and hamburger

Hi, folks! Love Sydney—way more bells and whistles than I need for the site I’m working on, but a great representative of some seriously solid work.

I have searched this forum and found several other requests for the same information, tried to follow the supplied advice, and I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong.

I don’t want the the hamburger in the top right of the top bar that calls up a search box (that slides in from the left).

The demo for Sydney has no such search hamburger:

I looked through the widget areas and see no search widget. I tried to load the following CSS into Simple Custom CSS:

.search-field {
display: none !important;
}

And STILL that little search hamburger button appears. What am I missing?

Thank you so much in advance for any help you can give!

Hi,

That menu item isn’t there by the theme, maybe it’s part of one of your plugins, but you can remove that menu button with this Custom CSS:

button#responsive-menu-button {
    display: none !important;
}

Please add the above CSS to your Child Theme’s style.css or in case you haven’t setup a Child Theme already, then you can also add the CSS to wp-admin -> Appearance -> Customizer -> Additional CSS so you won’t loose the changes after Theme or WordPress updates.

Please let me know how it works.

Kind Regards,
Csaba

Csaba—

THANK YOU for your response. It WAS a plugin issue, and when I identified which one (one that I tried out and forgot to deactivate/delete) the problem was solved. I’m so grateful for your help. Have a great weekend, and take care!
