Post: Removing Author, Date & Category?

Possible to remove the Author, Date, and Category of a post ?
Please see image for visual explanation.

not possible at all ?

Bernhard,
I’m pretty sure you can actually choose to show or not the metadata (author and such) of a post in the customizer.
Not sure if that also means the white area is going to shrink out of the way.

  • What Customizer are you referring to ?
  • Do you know what .php file contains the print function of the author, date, category ?
  • if so, how to take it out with a customizer ?

Thank you very much for any little help - appreciate it !

Hello Bernhard,

You can hide post meta in DashboardAppearanceCustomizeBlog optionsMETA section.

I’m not sure if it remove white space, but you can provide a link to your Blog page and I will try to help you with some custom CSS code.

Kind Regards, Roman.

@Roman:
ok… that’s cool.

so here we go with the link to the post:

I could remove the Meta data like u recommended.
But I still have this “white gap” between the top bar and the image.

    Questions:
a) How to remove the white gap between the top bar and the image ? b) How to align the the post title to the left instead of the center ? c) How to change the Font to Google Roboto Family ? d) The font size in the apparance does not seem to work ! e) Where to add the custom .css code ? f) How to change the mobile menue bar color ? (instead of white.. blue) g) Preformatted: I want to make sure that the preformatted text box appears as a solid box container. I don't want that the user has to scroll inside the box. Instead, it should be a solid preformated box-container, that just shows the text and fits into the column of the post. How to remove the scrolling ?

Thank you very much Roman, appreciate your help !

Okay Bernhard,

a) That gap contains post title, do you want to remove post title as well?

b) It looks like post title is already left-aligned, have you already resolved this issue?

c) Please watch this video, it might help you with this issue:

d) There are many font size options in Fonts section, can you please specify the one (or several) that you are referring to?

e) You can add CSS code to your site with Simple Custom CSS plugin (just copy CSS code and paste it in Dashboard → Appearance → Custom CSS after installing and activating the plugin). Also you can add CSS code directly to style.css file of your child theme.

f) You can do it in Dashboard → Appearance → Customize → Colors → Header → Menu background.

g) I’m not sure what box you are referring to, can you please specify it with screenshot and/or link?

Kind Regards, Roman.

I made a video … that should help explaining.

Hello Bernhard,

Thank you for the video, it helped me to better understand your issues.

a) First you told that you want to remove that gap, but later you added your post title back. So please specify what exactly do you want to do here.

b) Please try to use the following CSS code in order to center your widget titles and remove underline (in my opinion it won’t look nice in the middle when text is left-aligned, you can avoid second part of the code to leave it).

You can add CSS code to your site with Simple Custom CSS plugin (just copy CSS code and paste it in Dashboard → Appearance → Custom CSS after installing and activating the plugin). Also you can add CSS code directly to style.css file of your child theme.

h3.widget-title {
    text-align: left !important;
}

h3.widget-title::after {
    display: none;
}

c) Please check my previous answer regarding this.

d) Please answer my previous question regarding this.

e) Please check my previous answer regarding this.

f) Answered in my previous post.

g) Please try to use this CSS code:

body pre {
    white-space: normal;
}

Kind Regards, Roman.

Thank you Roman !

    #1: Color of the menu bars

30sec. Video:

You are welcome Bernhard,

I answered this question in your other topic here:

Kind Regards, Roman.

Hi Roman !

Thank you - you simple rock.

#2: Padding Issues
I am still fighting this major issue here. Another 3 minute video that shows the specific problem.

Thank you Roman !

Please try to add this CSS code in order to remove gaps:

div#content > div.content-wrapper.container {
    padding-top: 0;
}

.no-col-padding .panel-grid-cell {
    margin-bottom: 0 !important;
}

I noticed horizontal scroll on your site, you can try to add this CSS code in order to get rid of it:

body {
    overflow-x: hidden;
}

Kind Regards, Roman.

Thank you Roman !

This is great.

#3: Next Blog Post
At the end of my blog posts, I get the title of other blog posts. Like related posts, or similar to that. I don’t want to have those related links at the bottom of each post.

How can I remove them ?

    #4: Buttons and links

You show on some layouts some Buttons you can click.
I get to the point, where I can enter the specific URL.

I don’t want to link to any other page. Instead, I would like to specify a link, that is at the same page. An anchor.

As far as I remember, usually you can specify links on the same page with a #sign.
I tried… but doesn’t work.

Can you tell me how you can enter a link, that stays and points to a text element at the same page ?

Hello Bernhard,

  1. Can you please provide a link to the post that contains such links? I don’t see such links in this post.

  2. You can use this link structure: http://example.com/#section-id. Just replace http://example.com/ with your URL, and #section-id with the id of respective section.

You can find the id of an element by doing a right-click on it, select Inspect Element and find something like this: <div id="pg-220-1" class="panel-grid"… - in this case, pg-220-1 is the id of a div element.

For more information you can refer to this guide.

Kind Regards, Roman.

#1: Removing Hyperlinks
#2: Breadcrumbs

#4: is resolved

Hello Bernhard,

  1. Please try to use the following CSS code in order to hide (not remove) post navigation links.

You can add CSS code to your site with Simple Custom CSS plugin (just copy CSS code and paste it in Dashboard → Appearance → Custom CSS after installing and activating the plugin). Also you can add CSS code directly to style.css file of your child theme.

nav.navigation.post-navigation {
    display: none;
}
  1. Please check these links in order to learn how to integrate breadcrumbs:

    https://athemes.com/forums/topic/breadcrumbs-on-header-php/

Kind Regards, Roman.

Hi Roman !

    #1: Removing Post Navigation links

The CSS option works fine for NOT DISPLAYING them. But in the Source code, I still have outgoing links as a href operation.

Like you mentioned, I would like to remove them for SEO purpose instead of not just showing them.
Can you tell me what .php file that would be I have to remove the post navigation links ?

Is there a way to use a custom function .php file, similar to the custom .css file ?

@Breadcrumbs:
Thank you. That makes sense. However, I would need to know what specific .php files are creating the blog posts. Assuming…

  • content-single.php ?

I was reading some other posts in the help forum, in which people are taking about a custom function plugin if you are not using a child theme. I like that idea. Do you have any more info about that plugin and how to use for instance, that custom function plugin to add the breadcrumbs code from yoast ?

Thank you so much Roman,
appreciate all your help & keep rocking !
