My blog page looks ugly

I’m starting a blog on my website. I put the page in my menu by saying I wanted to link it to this category I created called “blog”. But now, it says “CATEGORY: BLOG” and it interferes with my logo and just doesn’t look good.

Any tips on how to link a blog to a page without it saying category or something else at the top of the page? I just want it to be the clean boxes with blog posts.

Thanks for your help!

Hi,

Please post a link to your website, so I can check.

Hey Csaba!

Here is the link to the page: http://whitebarnevents.net/category/blog/

Thanks for the help!

Hi,

You don’t have enough space above the page wrap, that caused the issue, you can add more space above the page-wrap with this Custom CSS:

.category-blog .page-wrap {
    padding-top: 140px !important;
}

Please add the above CSS to your Child Theme’s style.css or in case you haven’t setup a Child Theme already, then you can also use this plugin to add the CSS to it: https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-custom-css/ so you will not loose the changes on theme updates.

Please let me know how it works.

Awesome, that helps for it interfering with the logo! Is there any way where I could totally remove “Category: Blog” from the page? I would love to have just the simple boxes of blog posts.

Also, I added the plugin you mentioned and copied that code but it didn’t change anything. Does it just take a while to activate?

Hi,

If you add using the plugin I gave you the link to have to work, but if you have a cache plugin installed, then clear your cache after applying the Custom CSS.

Csaba

Hmmm I tried clearing the cache but it didn’t work either.

hey, sorry for highjacking the post, but its also regarding the blog are. How to I hide the metadata (date posted, categories, etc…)

TIA
cheers

Hi @sarahmckelvey,

Yes, it doesn’t work, because you have changed the page, the first link you gave me doesn’t work, so I have checked your site and found you’ve moved it to here: http://whitebarnevents.net/category/tulsa-wedding-venues-blog/ so as you have it now this CSS will work:

.category-tulsa-wedding-venues-blog .post-wrap {
    padding-top: 40px !important;
}

@PlayLisbon - You can hide the post meta with this Custom CSS:

.meta-post {
    display: none !important;
}

Please let me know how it works.

Best Regards,
Csaba

Thanks Csaba!

I still need to remove the “category: blog” if possible. Is there a code for this?

Hi,

You can hide it with this Custom CSS:

.category-tulsa-wedding-venues-blog .page-header {
    display: none !important;
}

Please let me know how it works.

Best Regards,
Csaba

It worked! Thank you!
