Link in Menu for "go top"

Hi.

I want a Link in the menu to go back to the top of the page.
The “Go Top”-Button does it well but if I use a link to the URL the frontpage will be loaded every time I just want to jump to the top.
If I use “https://…url…/#page” it works as long as I stay on the frontpage, but not, when I am on a subpage (e.g. Imprint).

Any Idea?

Thanks,
Jörg

Hello Jörg,

You can try to use this plugin in order to have https://example.com/#page on the home page, https://example.com/contact/#page on the contact page, etc.

Please feel free to ask any other questions that you might have.

Kind Regards, Roman.

Hi Roman.

I already use such links (https://example.com/#service etc.) and all the links work on the front-page and on subpages. On the Frontpage the content scrolls to the destination, from subpages the frontpage will be open on positioned on the choosen anker.

So everything works with these links except the https://example.com/#page.
This link only works when I’m already on the front-page but not, when I’m on a subpage.

Any Ideas, why not?

Regrads,
Jörg

Hello Jörg,

Did you try to create page-specific menu items with the plugin I mentioned above?

Hello Roman.

Not until now…
If I have to use a PlugIn just for this singel link, I didn’t want that and accept the current situation.
But I can’t understand why all other links to the sections will work accept the on to the top of the page… Where’s the difference?

Regards,
Jörg

Hello Jörg,

You can also try to use #page or #content instead of the https://example.com/#page

Hi Roman.

I used it in the main menu and I want to go back to the top of the startpage.
If I only link #page it will navigate to the top of the current shown page not the startpage.
But on the startpage I want to slide to the top.
That’s the reason why I try to understand the difference between the links wich should - in my opinion - work the same way…

I’ll keep trying.

Jörg

Hello Jörg, can you please provide a link to your website in order to let me check it?

You can use some link shortener if you don’t want to leave the link to your site in this topic.

Kind Regards, Roman.

Hi Roman.

You can see it here: https://giwe-fensterbau.de/#page

Thanks for your support,
Jörg

Hello Jörg,

You are expecting your home page to scroll if you click an anchor link on other page, instead of opening it already scrolled down, as far as I understand. If that’s correct, I don’t think that there is an easy way to achieve it, unfortunately.

Hi Roman.

No… I want to use this (yellow):

It works wonderfull, if I’m on the startpage.
But when I’m on a subpage - e.g. imprint - the .../#produkte (green) works, the .../'#page (yellow) not!?

Since this does not work I do not use this link on the start page.
This means that when I am on the start page, a klick will reloaded the page instead of scrolling up.

Regards,
Jörg

Hello Jörg,

Okay, as I mentioned above, I think that you should have #page as menu item link on the home page, and https://example.com/#page on other pages. You don’t want to install an additional plugin, but I don’t see an easy workaround here, sorry.

Kind Regards, Roman.

Hello Roman.

Okay, I got that so far.

I was just hoping to understand the reason why the same kind of link on ‘external’ pages works with #produkte and not with #page.

So I’ll stick with the current setting, which will always reload the start page completely.

Thanks for the support and

regards,
Jörg

Okay, you are welcome Jörg.
