I have a problem with my home pages (French, English) and as I try to fix this it just gets worse and worse.
When I am on the French page, the content does not appear and when I am on the English page it is the slideshow animation that does not appear …

Languag issues is usually not theme-related. This may be due improper configuration on your multilangual plugin. Which plugin are you using?
Further adding, I’d recommend you follow these guides, in case you are using Polylang.
