How to show the featured image on pages in Sydney

I am trying to show the featured image on each page that i have set as a featured image. Currently the Sydney theme uses the headers set in the HEADER IMAGE SECTION.
I want to be able to use featured images for the pages I have assigned images to.

Please help.

Hello there,

The pro version comes bundled with that feature. It can be activated through the page template.

I would like to have the same features and options for a PAGE you have for a POST when it comes to the featured image.

The STANDARD Post format should be the same as the STANDARD PAGE format.

How can you achieve exactly the same when using Pages?
Please advise!

It requires special coding for pages. As it’s already available in the PRO version, I’d kindly suggest you to upgrade.

Hi Kharis!

Sorry… I do have the pro version but still can’t make it work.
See the following blog post:

Hi Kharis!

any news on that issue?

Show featured image on PAGES with Standard/Default Format on the Sydney Pro.
That’s what I need.

Thank you!

Hello there,

I am so sorry for the long delay. Please try doing these steps:

Add the below PHP function to a child theme’s functions.php file, or use a functionality plugin like Code Snippets without running a child theme.

    add_action( 'wp_enqueue_scripts', 'sydney_pro_child_pages_featured_image', 9999 );
    function sydney_pro_child_pages_featured_image() {

      global $post;
      $image = '';

      if( is_page() ) {
        $image = get_the_post_thumbnail_url($post->ID, array(9999,9999));
      wp_localize_script( 'sydney-main', 'sp_page_featured_image', $image );

  1. Install and activate the TC Custom JavaScript plugin
  2. Go To Appearance > Custom JavaScript
  3. Paste the following code into the provided box
    jQuery(function($) {

      if( sp_page_featured_image != '' ) {

        var title = $('.entry-header .entry-title').text();
        $('').prepend('<div class="entry-thumb"><img src="'+sp_page_featured_image+'" alt="'+title+'" /></div>');

4 . Update

If site cache applied, you’re required to flush it before checking the result as it might block the new code addition to take effect.

Let me know how it goes.
