How to create replica of Blog page

I have changed the Blog name to Destinations on my website. Now I want to add another page/category in the similar format. How can I create one?

My website link is http://www.commuteworld.com/

Thanks!

Hello there,

In the custom menu administration panel, you can use Custom Links type of menu item. You can manually set the menu label and its link. For example, in the URL field, you can enter http://www.commuteworld.com/category/india/. You can get this link from Post menu > Categories.

Thank you for the quick response @kharisblank.

Let me elaborate my concern again.

I want a new page to be created with the same formatting (exact duplicate) as the ‘Destinations’ page. In the page ‘Destinations’ I have articles on different locations. Now, the new page which I want should have articles apart from locations. I want to give ‘Blog’ as the name of this new page.

How can I create it? Please help!

Thanks!

Hello!

Can anyone help?

Thanks,
Ankita

Hello there,

That’s impossible to do, I am afraid. WordPress system only provides one blog index page. The only possible solution is to categorize your posts. In the category box of post editing panel, add/assign a category that reads “Destination”, then use its archive link for menu item.

Hello @kharisblank,

I have tried that already and assigned the article to category ‘Blog’ and added the category in Menu item. But the article is showing on both the pages, i.e. Destinations and Blog. Also, when clicked on the Blog page with the help of menu, it displays the heading ‘Category: Blog’ which is not looking great.

• Can I remove this heading ‘Category: Blog’?
• Is there a way by which the blog will display on Blog page and not on Destinations page.

Please suggest!

Hello there,

To hide the category heading label, add this CSS code to Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS from dashboard.

    .archive .archive-header {
      display: none;
    }

Is there a way by which the blog will display on Blog page and not on Destinations page.

Create a new blank page with a title “Blog”, the visit Settings > Reading. On “Your homepage displays” section, select the new blog page for posts page.

Thanks so much for the suggestions… Will try to implement them and see if this works.

Hello @kharisblank,

Yes, the additional CSS option is working the exact way as I wanted it to be. But can it be possible that the category, named Blog, will not display on the ‘Destinations’ page because I have added it in Menu? Also, is there any way of modifying URL http://www.commuteworld.com/category/blog/ to http://www.commuteworld.com/blog/.

Thanks,

Hello there,

I am sorry for the delay. At this phase, I found your objective is really difficult to accomplish. As the default WordPress blog page will list all posts. If you wish to take some of them to become separate entries like Destinations or Services, ideally you’ll need to create a new post type, that’d be easily accomplished if you have advance knowledge of WordPress development.

It’s really out of the scope of support service we offer here in the forum. Whilst it isn’t theme specific issue. I’d kindly suggest you hire a WordPress coder. You can find him at upwork.com or codeable.io.
