Have site title next to site logo in header

In sitetitle/tagline/logo, I seem only able to have either my logo, or my site title/tagline, what is the recommended way to enable both?

Currently, I just included my site title/tagline text next to my logo in a .png, but I think it would be great to have the option to have my site title/tagline as html to make it look as crisp and sharp as possible, no matter what screen it’ll be displayed on. Would probably also help with the SEO.

Thanks

Hello @tenfootninja,

Please try to do the following.

1. Download premade child theme for Sydney Pro from documentation page here, then install and activate it. You can learn more about child themes here.

2. Copy header.php file from parent theme folder to child theme folder.

3. Open header.php file in child theme folder with a text editor.

4. Replace this code:
<a href="<?php echo esc_url( home_url( '/' ) ); ?>" title="<?php bloginfo('name'); ?>"><img class="site-logo" src="<?php echo esc_url(get_theme_mod('site_logo')); ?>" alt="<?php bloginfo('name'); ?>" /></a>

…with this:

<a href="<?php echo esc_url( home_url( '/' ) ); ?>" title="<?php bloginfo('name'); ?>"><img class="site-logo" src="<?php echo esc_url(get_theme_mod('site_logo')); ?>" alt="<?php bloginfo('name'); ?>" /></a>
<h1 class="site-title"><a href="<?php echo esc_url( home_url( '/' ) ); ?>" rel="home"><?php bloginfo( 'name' ); ?></a></h1>
<h2 class="site-description"><?php bloginfo( 'description' ); ?></h2>

5. Save your changes.

Please feel free to ask any other questions that you might have.
