Footer widgets issue and page space header

Hi all…

Need some help with 2 issues I am experiencing below…

  1. I am currently having an issue with footer widgets, in that I have selected 3 in customization footer widget area and added site origin header in widget 2 but nothing displays on page.

  2. I can’t seem to get rid of space between the page header/menu and page content.

Here is a link to a video screen cast just to show you the issues… https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0Gk1ZDZ_J2uSXkxV0VjcTFyS28/view

any help in resolving these issues would be great…

Rhys

Hi,

  1. You can’t use Page Builder widgets in default Footer Widget Areas.

  2. Please post a link to your website, so I can inspect this issue on your site.

Csaba

Hi Csaba,

Thanks for responding.

With your first comment about widgest in footer, they are now working. What I found to be the issue, was that because i had 3 columns selected under Appearance > Customise > Footer widget area, I only had a widget in the 2nd column. As soon as I placed a widget in the 1st column the footer area appeared on site with the widgets. So that is working ok now.

Here is the link to site http://www.chromerecruitment.co.uk - I still can’t figure out the space issue between header and page row

Thanks
Rhys

Hi,

You can hide the white space below the menu with this Custom CSS:

.page .page-wrap .content-wrapper, .single .page-wrap .content-wrapper {
    padding-top: 0 !important;
}

Please add the above CSS to your Child Theme’s style.css or in case you haven’t setup a Child Theme already, then you can also use this plugin to add the CSS to it: https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-custom-css/ so you will not loose the changes on theme updates.

Please let me know how it works.

Best Regards,
Csaba

Thanks Csaba…

Just a quick one before I do this, is it too late for me to add a child theme and where would I get the child theme from?

Thanks
Rhys

Hi…

I used css provided in widget and it appears to have worked. Thanks

I am also having a similar problem with space between footer and bottom row, is there a similar solution for this also?

Thanks Csaba
Rhys

Hi,

It’s never too late to create a Child Theme, but if you use only Custom CSS changes, then you don’t need it, you can simply use the plugin I suggested, that will do it, but if you need file change modifications it’s never too late to create a Child Theme, you can use a free for that, like this one: https://wordpress.org/plugins/child-theme-configurator/

You can hide the space between footer and bottom row with this Custom CSS:

#sidebar-footer {
    padding-bottom: 0 !important;
}

I see you have added the copyright to widgets, so if you want to hide the footer copyright area too ( which is now empty ) you can use this Custom CSS too:

.site-footer {
    display: none !important;
}

Please let me know how it works.

Csaba

Hi…

I have switched to a child theme. With the css code you have provided, where would I place this to make the changes to child theme?

Thanks Csaba

Hi,

If you want to add it to a Child Theme, then add it it style.css of your Child Theme in the first lien below theme info. If you just want to save the CSS from updates you can use this Plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-custom-css/

Csaba

Hi Csaba

.page .page-wrap .content-wrapper, .single .page-wrap .content-wrapper {

}
#sidebar-footer {
padding-bottom: 0 !important;
}
.site-footer {

}

Nothing is changing am i doing something wrong?

Thanks for you time and effort with helping me with all this, much appreciated.

Rhys

Hi,

Please try to add it using this Plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-custom-css/ and let me know how it works with that, maybe you have not configured your Child Theme well, so you can test that by adding the CSS using this plugin.

Csaba

Hi…

Added the code into Simple Custom CSS and still nothing changes.

Rhys

Hi,

I can’t see any issues with your footer now, so please try to clear your cache after you apply the Custom CSS, if you still have any issue, please post a screenshot of the issue, so I can check, maybe I am looking at a wrong place.

Csaba

Hi Csaba,

The changes I am referring to are the spaces between the header and page content and also a space between the footer and bottom page content.

See this screen capture with notes: http://www.awesomescreenshot.com/image/1801561/91def76ae3f5d2fc3e552d82b6279703

Thanks Csaba

Hi,

The first space is added by the entry-header ( Welcome ), if you want to keep the text and remove a bit of space from below it, then please try this Custom CSS:

.single .entry-header, .page .entry-header {
    margin-bottom: 0 !important;
}

if you want to remove the whole space, including the text ( welcome, on this page ), then try this one instead:

.single .entry-header, .page .entry-header {
    display: none !important;
}

You can remove the space above the footer with this Custom CSS:

.entry-footer {
    display: none !important;
}

.content-area .hentry {
    padding-bottom: 0 !important;
}

.page .page-wrap .content-wrapper, .single .page-wrap .content-wrapper {
    padding-bottom: 0 !important;
}

Please let me know how it works.

Best Regards,
Csaba
