Footer.php coding - additional permalinks/hyperlinks

Hello everyone,

since I am a newbie when it comes to coding with HTML & CSS I wanted to know how I can add more permalinks.

Above my (Designed by Nino. 2016) I want to add a privacy policy and a
disclaimer which by clicking guides you to a page. I would really
really appreciate it.

What do I need to code so I do not mess up my HTML (Appearance >> Editor >> Theme footer [footer.php]

What I got on www.lifeofnino.com :

<?php
/**
 * The template for displaying the footer.
 *
 * Contains the closing of the #content div and all content after
 *
 * @package Sydney
 */
?>
 </div>
 </div>
 </div><!-- #content -->

 <?php if ( is_active_sidebar( 'footer-1' ) ) : ?>
 <?php get_sidebar('footer'); ?>
 <?php endif; ?>

 <a><i class="fa fa-angle-up"></i></a>

 <footer id="colophon" class="site-footer" role="contentinfo">
 <div class="site-info container">
 <a>"><?php printf( __( 'Designed by %s', 'sydney' ), 'Nino. 2016' ); ?></a>
 </div><!-- .site-info -->
 </footer><!-- #colophon -->
</div><!-- #page -->

<?php wp_footer(); ?>

</body>
</html>

Hello Jay23,

Please note that there is an option in Sydney Pro Customize section, which will allow you to change footer credits very easily.

Please go to your public_html/wp-content/themes/sydney folder (you can use your cPanel), open footer.php file with text editor and find this code:

<div class="site-info container">
	<a href="<?php echo esc_url( __( 'http://wordpress.org/', 'sydney' ) ); ?>"><?php printf( __( 'Proudly powered by %s', 'sydney' ), 'WordPress' ); ?></a>
	<span class="sep"> | </span>
	<?php printf( __( 'Theme: %2$s by %1$s.', 'sydney' ), 'aThemes', '<a href="https://athemes.com/theme/sydney" rel="designer">Sydney</a>' ); ?>
</div><!-- .site-info -->

…then replace it with something like that:

<div class="site-info container">
<p>Changed text</p>
</div><!-- .site-info -->

Just replace Changed text with desired text and/or link.

Also please note that you have to create a child theme and override footer.php to prevent your changes to be rewritten after theme update.

Kind Regards, Roman.

Hello Roman,

Thank you for your reply, I’ll have to have a look if this is something I can manage.
I’m a novice when it comes to WP and have no clue about programming. :wink:

Alex

You are welcome Alex :slight_smile:

Kind Regards, Roman.
