Footer change

Hi Athemes,
I tried to edit the footer.php with the copyright for my web in the Sydney Free theme, but i couldn’t.
Is it possible to do that?
Thanks

Hello,

of course it is possible. Just creaty a child theme and copy the footer.php into the child theme folder. There you can edit it without being overwritten with the next update.

yes i tried, but when I try to preview the child them appears this:

Warning: require_once(/home4/wearexpat/public_html/wp-content/themes/child/plugins/class-tgm-plugin-activation.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home4/wearexpat/public_html/wp-content/themes/child/functions.php on line 314

Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required ‘/home4/wearexpat/public_html/wp-content/themes/child/plugins/class-tgm-plugin-activation.php’ (include_path=’.:/opt/php54/lib/php’) in /home4/wearexpat/public_html/wp-content/themes/child/functions.php on line 314

Hi, thanks, i already manage to create the child theme.

Regarding the footer:
I’m trying to change the footer.php lines, but when I update the theme the footer is still the same as before.

these are the lines that I wrote:

<?php
/**

  • The template for displaying the footer.

  • Contains the closing of the #content div and all content after

  • @package Sydney
    */
    ?>

    <?php if ( is_active_sidebar( ‘footer-1’ ) ) : ?>
    <?php get_sidebar(‘footer’); ?>
    <?php endif; ?>

    <i class=“fa fa-angle-up”>

     <?php get_sidebar('footer'); ?>

     <div class="site-info">
     	<?php do_action( 'sydney_child_credits' ); ?)
     	© Design by E X P A T / All Rights Reserved
     </div><!-- .site-info -->

<?php wp_footer(); ?>

/* */

Could be a problem of the code?

Sorry for the massive delay, I nearly overlooked your topic. There might be a mistake with the PHP code you’re using before the copyright.

If you want you can copy the footer.php from my website and set your own copyright:

<?php
/**
* The template for displaying the footer.
*
* Contains the closing of the #content div and all content after
*
* @package Sydney
*/

?>

	<?php if ( is_active_sidebar( 'footer-1' ) ) : ?>
		<?php get_sidebar('footer'); ?>
	<?php endif; ?>

© 2015 YOUR NAME HERE

<?php wp_footer(); ?>
