Fixed Top Nav

Hello,

Is there a way to make the top navigation fixed so that it is always visible when I scroll down the page.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Please post a link to your website, so I can check how that can be done.

What I am trying to achieve is basically :
Remove the main menu entirely and have just the Top-nav as my main navigation. and also have it to be collapsible on small screens, the way the main menu currently is.

Thanks.

Hi,

You can hide the main navigation with this Custom CSS:

#main-navigation {
    display: none !important;
}

Please add the above CSS to your Child Theme’s style.css or in case you haven’t setup a Child Theme already, then you can also use this plugin to add the CSS to it: https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-custom-css/ so you will not loose the changes on theme updates.

Please let me know how it works.

Unfortunately the top navigation can’t be made to collapse like main menu by default, but you can do that with some custom coding, but we as Support can’t help with that much of custom code, so if you can’t do the required custom coding by yourself, then I suggest to hire a developer who can do that for you, if thats a must-have feature for you.

Hello,

I have succeeded in getting a sticky/fixed collapsible menu using the main menu instead.
Now I am trying to add a login/Sign Up link to the right side of the main menu but I can’t seem to get it to appear on the menu bar. (its currently appearing below the menu bar).

I had to make some changes to the header.php file to add the link, dunno if I am doing it correctly. I am still new to PHP. Please help.

<nav id=“main-navigation” class=“container-main main-navigation” role=“navigation”>
Menu
Close
<?php wp_nav_menu( array( ‘container_class’ => ‘sf-menu’, ‘theme_location’ => ‘main’ ) );
echo’ Login/Sign Up ';
?>

          	<!-- #main-navigation --></nav>

Thanks in advance

Trisha

Hi,

Better add the login / sign up links as menu items to your menu in wp-admin / Appearance / Menus.

Hi,

I don’t want the login link to be part of the menu list. I want it to float to the right of the menu bar so that it can still be viewed with the menu collapsed on smaller screens.

Regards,
Trisha.

Hi,

You can move the login button up the menu with this Custom CSS, but if you want to have it as part of the collapsable menu on mobile, then you will have to add it to the menu in wp-admin, as I suggested above:

.login-button {
    margin-top: -35px !important;
}

Csaba

It worked! Just the way I want it.
Thanks so much.
You are the best.
