Faster linking and page load

Hello.

If you scroll down to the Our Work section on my home page and click on any of the 4 samples shown, it redirects you to the correct page, but it takes a while for it to actually go to that interior page. It seems like clicking on the link is “activating” the link, but the interior page loads before it actually takes you there. Does anyone know of a way to take the user to the interior page faster after clicking on a link, even if it means that the red loading dots appear for a second or two. I would be okay with the red loading dots appearing.

I read that WP Super Cache, W3 Total Cache and Jetpack are good tools to activate for faster loading purposes. Should I activate all three or just one of these? I imagine activating all three could actually slow loading cease then to many Plugins needing to load?

Any help of faster loading would be great but more importantly for me is “forcing” a faster linking to pages and I don’t mind the loading red dots.

Thank you all for time with this topic,
Esteban

Hello Esteban,

Use this tool in order to test website https://gtmetrix.com/reports/creativew.com/SXw0LRBF. Also, please note that this is not theme related question, and that end users should increase performance on their own, and to to make sure that they are using reliable hosting service providers with high resources, and with fast and secure servers.

Here are some general tips for speeding up your website:

  1. You can check how to optimize your website here: (in this part, minimization of those files will be mentioned): https://gtmetrix.com/

  2. Optimize your images with some tool:
    www.jpegmini.com/

  3. Also you can install some plugin for cache, like WP Fastest Cache (use only one caching plugin):

or premium one http://wp-rocket.me/

  1. You can enable gzip compression on your server. You should paste this code to .htaccess file located in your folder:
<ifModule mod_gzip.c>
mod_gzip_on Yes
mod_gzip_dechunk Yes
mod_gzip_item_include file .(html?|txt|css|js|php|pl)$
mod_gzip_item_include handler ^cgi-script$
mod_gzip_item_include mime ^text/.*
mod_gzip_item_include mime ^application/x-javascript.*
mod_gzip_item_exclude mime ^image/.*
mod_gzip_item_exclude rspheader ^Content-Encoding:.*gzip.*
</ifModule>

or contact hosting to enable this for you.

  1. Leverage browser caching:
    http://www.feedthebot.com/pagespeed/leverage-browser-caching.html

  2. Use ate least PHP 5.4.x or greater in order to process PHP code faster, and to fix older version bugs. Note that wordpress is now recommending PHP 5.6 or greater https://wordpress.org/about/requirements/

All the Best!

I agree and understand with your logic. Great feedback!
