Editing Projects page

Hello there,

Once again thanks for the awesome theme, especially Projects section and its widgets. Editing and adding is very convenient. But I can’t find how/where I can edit the Projects page itself, I mean this one:
http://vladpolesnov.com/projects/

I just don’t see it anywhere on my Dashboard. Is there any possibility to change it?

Thanks,
Sofya.

Hello there,

Technically speaking, the link you shared isn’t a page that can be edited in the page editing screen (Dashboard > Pages) due to it’s actually an archive page given by the WordPress system for Project post type.

If want to have a project page, you’ve to create a new page and name it as Our Projects, so its URL will be different and will look like http://vladpolesnov.com/our-projects/. To display your project items, follow this tutorial.

Hello Kharis,

Thanks for explanation, but unfortunately that leads me to another and yet the same problem. I’ll try to clarify it.

I’ve already created my own Project page called Books and I learnt how to display everything I need there. So the link to it is:
http://vladpolesnov.com/books/

Then I changed CPTs slugs for Projects into Books. It worked perfectly, permarlinks for each project/book were fine. BUT! When I clicked on Books page after that, I discovered it redirected me not to my Books page but to ex-project page (‘archive page given by the WordPress system for Project post type’). And at the same time the permalink to this ‘archive page’ was:
http://vladpolesnov.com/books/

So, my question is how after changing slugs for Projects into Books, the link http://vladpolesnov.com/books/ could link me to actually Books not to that ‘archive page’.

I hope you’ll get what I mean)))

Thanks,
Sofya.

Hello there,

Could you please explain how you changed the project slug? This URL: http://vladpolesnov.com/projects/ is still displaying projects archive. I might be wrong, bu I think, the new slug you applied hasn’t worked yet.

Kharis

Hello Kharis,

I’d changed the Projects slug with code from your snippets library. But as I said it didn’t work for this link http://vladpolesnov.com/books/ , so I deactivated it because I wanted you to see how this original Books page looked like before slug change.

Ok, now I’ve changed Projects slug again into Books, so you could see the problem.

The link doesn’t go to Books page (what I actually need), it goes to that ‘archive page’. And, by the way, this ‘archive page’ is still described as Projects despite the slug change (take a look at page description on tab in browser).

As for single projects it’s Ok, everything works, for example:
http://vladpolesnov.com/books/test/

Thanks,
Sofya.

Hello there,

Since the Projects name definition is in the Sydney Toolbox plugin. You’ll need a string translation plugin like Loco Translate plugin which allows you to replace certain strings without touching any single code of the plugin itself. Check this documentation.

I hope that helps.

Kharis

Hello Kharis,

That’s not exactly what I wanted to do - it turned out that strings translations is for internal use only and do not affect permalinks changes. Ok, I’ll try to solve it some other way.

Anyway, thanks for help! But if developers considered to make these ‘archive pages’ for Services, Projects etc. editable in the future it would be really great!

Kind regards,
Sofya.

Hi Sofya,

I’ll forward it to our developer and let’s see if he finds this is worth it to be implemented in the future update.
