Difference between search results page and the rest of my pages

I’ve created a search.php in my child theme, and can alter it, but the search results page

is still behaving differently from the rest of the pages on my site; for example:

The background photo isn’t responding to page size changes the same way, and search results obscure the background pic entirely. Any ideas? Presumably they’re loading different templates… how do I control this? Thanks!

Please try to add this CSS code:

.search-results .page-wrap {
    background-color: rgba(0,0,0,.7);
.search-results .page-wrap .content-wrapper {
    background-color: transparent;
.search-results h3, .search-results h2 a, .search-results p {
    color: white;

Awan! You are a wizard! Thank you so much.

Before I posted, I tried searching through various .css files to find the relevant variables, but failed. Can you tell me please how you identified them?

Thanks again!

I inspect the element of the website using chrome dev tools and try to simulate the CSS changes from there.

Please feel free to post a new thread if you have another issue.

I’ll try that in future. Thanks again!
