Difference between custom css and edit CSS

Dashboard—>Appearance—>Custom CSS
Dashboard—>Appearance—>Edit CSS

What is the difference between the two. Should I be using one or the other. If I have CSS code in both, which one overrides the other. Should I consolidate into one? Which one?

Custom CSS allows you to add your own styles or override the default CSS of a plugin or theme.

And CSS, or Cascading Styles Sheets, is a way to style and present HTML. Whereas the HTML is the meaning or content, the style sheet is the presentation of that document.

Hope that helps

Hello there,

Always use Custom CSS, please. So that the code addition won’t be lost once you update the theme in the future. But it is allowed to do Dashboard—>Appearance—>Edit CSS, if you are editing the child theme’s main stylesheet.
