Customizing Single Service Page

Hi there - I’m attempting to use a custom template when viewing a single service.

I’ve seen this post but it’s not quite working for me.

Steps taken so far.

  • Copy “content-single.php” from the Sydney parent theme folder
  • Pasted file into sydney child theme folder
  • Renamed pasted file content-services.php
  • Added <h1>Hi there</h1> into the template to make it obvious if it’s working
  • Gone into a single service’ ( /services/service-slug/)

I was expecting to see the “Hi there” text on the page, but it’s not appearing anywhere.

Is there another setting I need to select somewhere to force it to use the child’s content-services.php not content-single.php in the parent?

I will add, if I call the file single-services.php I can get the difference, but it’s of course missing all the header/footer stuff that’s normally done in single.php so I’d rather not do that for obvious reasons.

Hello,

It looks like this issue requires some coding and testing, this goes beyond our support policy. It’s considered advanced customization. As an option, you can contact Codeable for this kind of service, or find a reputable freelancer on Upwork.

Kind Regards, Roman.

Thanks for that.

I can always customize single.php in the child theme to do what I need, but was hoping to avoid that if possible.

Is it something that Sydney Pro may be able to do at all?

You are welcome.
