Content / Sidebar width

Hi,

I see a difference in the relationship btw. content and sidebar on sites and the Blog area. Please check: http://www.danielbierstedt.de/category/blog/ versus http://www.danielbierstedt.de/kontakt/. I noticed because of the ugly email break in the sidebar.

Hello,

On the contact page you have some custom widths, therefore both the content area and the sidebar are larger than on the blog category.

You can use this to reduce the right margin for the icons in order for the email to fit on one line:

.contact-address span, .contact-phone span, .contact-email span {
    margin-right: 5px;
}

Yes, I’m using

/page width/
.page-template-default .site-content {
max-width: 1300px;
}

@media only screen and (min-width: 991px) {
.page-template-default .content-area {
width: 68%;
}

.page-template-default .widget-area {
	width: 30%;
}

}

And I like that, I want the content (and sidebar) consume as much space as possible. Is there a way to do that on blog posts, too?

Sure, replace your code with this:

.page-template-default .site-content,
.archive .site-content {
   max-width: 1300px;
}

@media only screen and (min-width: 991px) {
  .page-template-default .content-area,
  .archive .content-area {
     width: 68%;
  }
  .page-template-default .widget-area,
  .archive .widget-area {
     width: 30%;
  }
}

LOL - so far, so good. Now only the image is missing…

Could you apply the code so I can see on your website what’s wrong?

done. this is all css I’m running: https://www.dropbox.com/s/e91prnz8f9ikafw/css.txt?dl=0

But you deserve a weekend, too :wink:

Yeah, just realized what’s going on when I saw your page now. The featured images width won’t go above 750px. That’s how I set it for performance reasons. You have two options if you want to keep this extended width: either center the images or overwrite a php file from inside a child theme.

Ok, I’ll think about it. Sunday.

Thanks, have a nice evening.
