Child Theme Created - Now What?

#1

I know NOTHING about code or any technical aspects of designing a website. Please help me. I’ve set up everything for my site but I need to make some changes and I’ve learned I need to do that in a child theme. I’ve loaded the Child Themify plugin, but I don’t know what to do next. This is what shows on my child theme after install:

/*
Theme Name: Fashionistas-Child
Version: 1.0
Description: A child theme of Fashionistas
Template: fashionistas
*/

@import url("…/fashionistas/style.css");

I want to eliminate the cropping from the featured images. I also want to remove the “author” and “comments” from the top of my posts and leave the “date” only. Can anyone help me to do this?

Hi,

The featured image are not cropped while it displaying within this theme, and below is the css code to remove the author and comment link for each posts:

.author, .comments-link {
    display: none;
}

You can append the code above in the styles.css within your child theme

Thanks for responsing, Awan. I’m not sure I understand your response to the featured image. Would you mind rephrasing it? Are you saying the featured images are not cropped?

#4

Yup, the featured image are not cropped.

Hmmm… Too bad my site isn’t live yet for you to see, because the featured images are definitely cropped. I used full body images and the featured image only shows the middle section of the body. However, in the actual posts, the full image is shown.

Okay, so I added the code you gave me above and it removed the author but not the comments. Is there something else I need to do?

Hi,

The css code in above should remove the comments-link also http://prntscr.com/9rhiif.

Can you please to inspect the element of the comments-link of your site by following this step:

  1. Right click of the comment link and choose inspect http://prntscr.com/9rhjcb
  2. Take a screenshot of the Developer Tools like this http://prntscr.com/9rhjq8 and send the picture here.
