my question is, how to change the text in the footer.
"Proudly powered by Wordpress I Theme Sydney by a Themes“ without breaking the whole website? I would also like to remove the link.
Is that possible? Which part can I overwrite in the footer.php?
Thank you very much for support.
First, you have to create a child theme to prevent your changes to be rewritten after theme update.
Second, copy footer.php to child theme and find this code in it:
<div class="site-info container"> <?php if ( get_theme_mod('footer_credits') == '') : ?> <a href="<?php echo esc_url( __( 'http://wordpress.org/', 'sydney' ) ); ?>"><?php printf( __( 'Proudly powered by %s', 'sydney' ), 'WordPress' ); ?></a> <span class="sep"> | </span> <?php printf( __( 'Theme: %2$s by %1$s.', 'sydney' ), 'aThemes', '<a href="https://athemes.com/theme/sydney" rel="designer">Sydney</a>' ); ?> <?php else : ?> <?php echo get_theme_mod('footer_credits'); ?> <?php endif; ?> </div><!-- .site-info -->
and replace it with something like that:
<div class="site-info container"> <p>Changed text</p> </div><!-- .site-info -->
Best Regards, Roman.
Or, you can just go to Appearance -> Customizer -> Sydney Pro options -> Footer credits, and type it there.
I think the Sydney Pro options are only available if I purchase the Sydney Pro template?
Yes, Sydney Pro options are only available if you purchase the Sydney Pro template.
Kind Regards, Roman.
