Add text in footer

Hello,

I would like to know if we can add some text/content (like ‘developed by …’) in the footer (to be aligned right). I want to retain the existing “Proudly powered by WordPress | Theme: Sydney by aThemes.”, but add some new text.

I tried but could not get any relevant information in this forum. Kindly let me know if this is possible.

Thanks,
Kiran

Hi,

You can try to manage it by using Footer Putter plugin. You can download it here https://wordpress.org/plugins/footer-putter/

Hi Awan,

Thanks for your reply.

Footer Putter plugin may not be suitable in this case. Because I dont want to create a new row below to site credits to Wordpress/Sydney.
What I want is a short sentence (aligned right) in the same line where currently “Proudly powered by WordPress | Theme: Sydney by aThemes” (which is aligned left) is present. I guess some default file (maybe footer.php) has to be modified. I am not sure what code should be written. Is this possible?

Thanks,
Kiran

Hi,

Yes, the footer will create new area below the default footer credit area but you can hide it using these CSS code:

.site-footer {
    display: none;
}

And make sure you are using “Footer Copyright Widget” on your “Credibility Footer” widget area http://prntscr.com/e72ud3

Hello Awan,

I am sorry if I am not able to explain properly.

  1. I do not want to remove/hide the default footer (“Proudly powered by WordPress | Theme: Sydney by aThemes.”)
  2. I just want a custom text to be displayed in this footer. Please check the image http://prnt.sc/e8orrf

Hope this can be achieved.

Thanks & regards,
Kiran

Hi,
Thank you for the screenshot, I clearly understand it now.
So, here is the steps:

  1. You can uninstall the Footer putter plugin in above.
  2. Install Header and Footer plugin
  3. Go to Settings > Header and Footer > Before the body closing tags (footer) > add this javascript:
<script>
jQuery(function($){
    var customFooterText = 'Developed by abc company';
    $('.site-info').append('<span style="float:right;">'+customFooterText+'</span>');
});
</script>

Awesome Awan. It worked. Thank you very much.

I really liked Sydney theme and the support the team provides, and did not wanted to remove its credits in the website.

I hope I don’t have any more questions/doubts on this. You can please close this.

Please continue doing the great work.

Kiran

Hi,
I need to do exactly the same thing. Add text into the footer. I’m using the Sydney Child theme. I installed the Header and Footer plugin and I went to Settings > Header and Footer > Before the body closing tags (footer) > and added the following javascript:

However when I look at my site, the text does not appear in the footer. I went to Apperance>Customise>Widgets and I have something called Footer1. Do I need to activate a setting somewhere to call the Header and Footer plugin?

Hi @weasel73,

The code in above should be working with Sydney theme.
Can you share your site URL here? so I can check it for further.

Awan

Hi Awan,

The URL is http://www.boxmoorpreschool.co.uk

Hi,

The code is working, but you put some incorrect CSS property in the code when you try centering the text. So, please use this instead:

<script>
jQuery(function($){
    var customFooterText = 'Developed by abc company';
    $('.site-info').append('<span style="text-align: center;">'+customFooterText+'</span>');
});
</script>

text-align: center; is used to centering the text. Currently, you are using float: centre; which is incorrect CSS property.

Then I notice that you set the text color as same as the footer background. To fix this, please put the CSS code below into Customize > additional CSS

.site-footer, .site-footer a {
    color: white;
}
